U8’s Warm Up’s
The Super Hero Warm Up
Set Up:
The Super Hero Warm Up is a great warm up to help ease players into the U8 Set Up.
The Warm Up involves learning responses to Mentor Calls in a fun way that encourage participation, listening and helps reduce player anxiety at the start of a training session.
The training area should be set up with two lines of cones facing each other, if possible use only two different colour cones so mentors can address lines by colour.
Mentors should should gain their players attention using their whistle and direct players to take up position at the cones facing each other.
The First Part of The Super Hero Drill is designed to help the players work on their Fundamental Movements by developing their ability to balance in a fun environment using Super Hero’s they are familiar with as triggers for different drills.
The first mentor call in The Super Hero Warm Up is: SUPERMAN
The call of Superman instructs the player to balance on one leg with one arms raised.
This part of the drill helps develop players balance.
Add a competitive aspect by seeing which player can balance the longest without falling.
The second mentor call in The Super Hero Warm up is: SUPERWOMAN
This Call lets the players know to switch the leg and arm their balancing with and start balancing on their other leg.
The third mentor call in The Super Hero Warm Up is: THE FLASH
The call of THE FLASH instructs players to jog on the spot.
Starting as a casual jog on the spot players should be challenged to gradually increase their speed to a sprint.
